The Yorkshire On-Land Boating Club

The Yorkshire On-Land Boating Club is the creation of Pointed Arrow Theatre Company.  In July 2009 we undertook an epic 105 journey through the towns and villages of Yorkshire pushing our boat, the Yorkshire Straif.  Our aim was to meet the people of Yorkshire along the way and find out what was important to them.

Well our epic 21 day journey, HEAVE 2009, is now over! But although the journey is finished, the story is waiting to be told. Have a look through the website to find out about German’s in Lycra, doggy rollocks and the discoveries made by the Yorkshire Straif. Take a look at our blog to hear the 21 day story, and watch out on the events page for when the boat will be near you in its new form as an art installation.

HEAVE 2009, funded by Arts Council England, is our maiden voyage and main event for 2009. It is a 21 day sailing circuit that will begin at 7 Arts Centre in Leeds and then take us through Bradford, up and across the Yorkshire Dales and then down from North to West Yorkshire and back to Leeds. We will be inviting the people that we meet to write on our boat about what is important to them…Find out more
